The Grand Tetons | Morning, Noon, and Night |

On our Old People Old West Grand Tour, we made our second stop at the Grand Tetons. Starting from our AirB&b in Idaho, we crossed the Teton Pass and passed through Jackson before arriving at the Grand Tetons. As soon as we entered the park, the breathtaking view captivated us.

Our first and favorite spot on the entire trip was Jenny Lake, Grand Tetons National Park. There is an easy to access viewing platform and small trails on each side it. Just a few steps from the platform, as I lined up the image below, I could hear the gentle sound of small waves lapping the rocky shore and I feel like it was the theme song for this National Park.

Following a brief visit to Mormon Row, we lingered at Schwabacher Landing before returning to our accommodations for the night. Although it was my second moose sighting of the day, it was undoubtedly the most extraordinary. On this occasion, I observed a young female moose foraging for her meal across a narrow river. She navigated the marshy bank, then crossed the river, eventually wandering downstream beyond our sight.

Around sunset, when heading back to the cabin, we encountered a huge bison herd crossing the main road. It was an amazing sight, with lots of opportunity for wildlife photos of the entire herd, and individual bison.

Our stay at Teton Cabins was fantastic, with an outstanding view of the park. Located just a few miles east of the park on a family ranch that raises beef cattle, Teton Cabins provided a perfect setting. We enjoyed a comfortable overnight stay in a cozy 2-bedroom cabin.

Up at 4:30am the next morning, I was ecstatic to photograph Schwabacher's Landing at sunrise. Unfortunately, there was no sunrise, but the view was still beautiful, and we were blessed with our 3rd and final moose sighting.

Driving away from the Tetons that morning, I had instant regret for not staying longer. But we had places to see and things to do! On our way out of the area, we stopped at the Tie Hack Memorial, just a quick leg stretch spot on the route, but the view from the top was breathtaking.

Next up, random stops on the way to Rapid City as we travel across the vast Wyoming prairies. See you soon!
